CHARON’S GARDEN [UPCOMING NOVEL]

David York is a sheriff’s detective assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. He receives an award for his response to a mass shooting event, but all he can think about is the killer’s makeshift mask. A dripping tree branch drawn on the forehead. Disturbing messages written under the eyes. It’s the same imagery from a mask worn by the suspect in a murder-suicide he investigated two years prior. David crosses paths with Shawn Bradford—a suspended municipal police officer spiraling into alcoholism after his brother’s unsolved murder—and they soon realize they are following the same trail of evidence.David and Shawn pursue an individual who calls himself The Ferryman. He preaches a twisted version of Plato’s Allegory of the Cave to a group of followers on Telegram, influencing them to commit acts of violence. As they close in on the digital cult leader, they discover that he is cursed with a supernatural body-hopping ability. He selects his vessels through a simple touch, forcing them to watch him perform violent miracles with their own hands. For Shawn, this is about more than just catching the bad guy. He’s chasing the man who killed his brother and destroyed his family, but more than that, he’s chasing the legacy he almost let slip away.
